XBOX 360 -Falcon- still a glitchy system
#11
I don't know when I got into the habit of it (probably around the Assassin's Creed DRE thing) but I always dashboard out after playing, then shut down. I'm assuming doing so stops the disc spinning (the drive noise reduces considerably) much better than simply turning the console off while the game is running. I've not had any DRE problems since, but the system has been running on fumes for a few months now so it's not problem free.

I always wait for Live to log in fully before starting a game up, but that's mostly because there's no option to load the game on the Live panel until it has done so.

Just because it works in the store doesn't mean it won't die on you a day or two later or not have the load/read disc errors. Also the only way to play a new system in store is to buy it first unless it is a used system. We will let somone try a used system before they buy it and we also check them when someone is trading it for disc errors and let it run for an hour to make sure the ring of death doesn't exist. We still replace used lemons within 90 days and offer an extended 1yr warranty for $49.

Like Macho (OH YEAH) I always exit to dashboard before I turn off the system, and so far no weird disc read errors of rings of death so far. Occasionally my system freezes and I have to reset the system but it usually seems to happen on rental games so it could be slight scratches causing that though.
W3LCOM3 2 TH3 N3XT G3N3RATION!

Nope, its differ from store to store.

In gamestore in my city, the system can be tested first.
You just tell want to buy x360, and tell them that you need to be sure its not defective.

I already do this from the time i buy ps1, ps2, x360.

I always try the console on the store for more than 1 hours.

Btw my x360 arcade never hand on games other than gta 4. It seems gta 4 is bugged.

Eternal sonata give hang righ after boot, but it fixed with an update.

I got no DRE , no rrod for now Big Grin

But i want to flash my drive to 8x. 12x is too noisy.
please insert disc 2........

Well, my 360 is going in to Microsoft.
My DVD drive took a s*** last night, wouldn't even read audio CDs. Appears to be a read/buffering issue.

Called Microsoft, they had me do the disconnect the hard drive routine, turn the system on, put a game in... Does the game load? Nope. Black screen. The guy started setting up a repair order immediately, which kinda shocked me. I guess they're familiar with this problem?

Well... Now I'm worried about what refurb crap they're going to send back to me. :/

btw, Microsoft outsourced customer service to India or something? LMAO

I eventually got it working again to play some more CoD4, but it seems pretty shot. Started getting loud on me, sounded like it was going to die. Frigging xbox, and with REALLY bad timing. ><

Man, sorry to hear that Zapix. I doubt my 360 is going to continue spluttering and wheezing its way through to Christmas, but unless it gets the three red rings it won't be under warranty...

Throw it out the window from atleast a second story window. If that doesn't given you the RRoD you want, I dunno what will! Wink

Is it the power fans, dvd drive?
I know some parts are technically replacable, but depends on what it is. :/

The more and more I think about it, the more and more pissed I become that I'm likely to get a refurb. The thing better be mine or another falcon based, or me and Microsoft are gonna have a long chat... Although considering the power supply changes, I guess it's a no brainer I have to get a falcon based system Smile

What really gets to me though of all things, is the timing. The timing of this is just outright 'omgwtf!' grrrrr angry wanna-go-postal. My ex that I play with all the time has two weeks off, and her bf is away, so we were gonna play like hardcore crazy people on CoD4, and we were talking about both getting Bad Company. Yep... Just got to watch that thought go RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW!

I am thinking about getting a used/refurb from ebgames, but ugh... I'm worried about what I'll get from them too. Suppose I can pester them for a falcon... If it doesn't say 175w, I don't want it! Somehow I don't like the idea of getting a second/backup 360 because Microsoft fails. What to do, what to do... I love gaming with her, but is she worth $300? :nosense: :uhoh:

$300 and not getting anything 'extra' out of it...

My 360 won't start up with a hard drive attached, eventually going to a power error. What I have to do is flick the SD/HD switch on the component cable while it's starting up, which reboots the console and then it works fine. Some games freeze for no discernible reason (GTAIV, Lego Indy, Beowulf, Bully: Scholarship Edition) and others have trouble reading discs (Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Kameo). I also had trouble with Lost Odyssey, but I think that was down to a dodgy fourth disc because it crashed at the same point every time.

Every game except GTA has worked fine once Amazon replaced the disc, but even so I think it's the console's fault more than anything wrong with the games.
